In 2005 Wendy and Tej Kohli founded the Tej Kohli Foundation to share their success with those who are less fortunate. The Foundation is funded entirely by Tej and Wendy Kohli and therefore does not accept external contributions.

The Tej Kohli Foundation is focused on making donations which have a measurable and sustainable impact. The Foundation currently operates in Costa Rica and India, whilst constantly exploring new countries where they can have the most impact on society at large. The Foundation is supported through the success of Kohli Ventures and the skills and intellectual capital provided by its senior management team and assistance of volunteers.

Since its inception, the Foundation has helped set up and/or support the following projects:

In December 2015, the Foundation opened The Tej Kohli Cornea Institute, based at the world-renowned L V Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India, using cutting-edge technology to facilitate corneal transplants to those that without it, would go blind. In addition, the Foundation funds cataract surgery and mobile bus units which travel to remote, poorly-equipped regions, providing patients with the latest ophthalmological equipment.

Letter from Tej & Wendy Kohli

The aim of our Foundation is to identify needy areas to which we can bring the benefit of our intellectual and financial resources. We are not interested in re-inventing the wheel, but in working within existing charitable frameworks to ensure maximum efficiency and exponential output. We have made clear from the outset that our Foundation operates without boundaries. This gives us the flexibility to address new areas where we can bring value– whatever the continent. Regardless of where we operate, our objective is to bring social improvement, hope and a sense of pride to peoples lives. We want to help people become the best they can be, for themselves and future generations to come.

"As a mother and wife I have dreams and aspirations for my family and recognize the important role women play in being the glue that keeps everyone together. All too often these womens dreams for their families, who are asking for so little, remain just that. Our job is to be the voice of those who desperately need help, where society has let them through the cracks and turned their back on them. We want everyone we come in to contact with to have a better chance of a brighter future for themselves, their families and generations to come"

- Wendy Kohli

  • The goal of the Tej Kohli Foundation is to strive for a world in which all people have hope and dignity, free from the constraints of poverty. It is this mission that is the driving force behind the work of the Tej Kohli Foundation.
  • Our future lies with the youth of today and the technology of tomorrow – the worlds most powerful and valuable assets. We must nurture, cherish, and inspire this generation, give them the support they need so they can fulfill their own potential and take society forward with a positive footprint. We are the lock and we must give them the key. Our Foundation seeks to achieve this by ensuring we offer not just research and development, but access to the relevant skills and intellectual capital. This allows us to make the most impact, with the farthest reaching effects.

  • 'The desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by the generous donation of money to good causes' – The Oxford Dictionary
  • Philanthropy in its current form is needed more than ever before as populations grow, and services and utilities become stretched and failing to deliver basic needs. The philanthropy of tomorrow will have to be more than helping good causes. It is integral that philanthropy is incorporated in to the fabric of society at large. It must be woven throughout everything we do. We need to be pushing philanthropic endeavours into R&D, developing new technologies for the betterment of society and backing our youth to be the social citizens of tomorrow.
