Impact Initiatives

The Tej Kohli Foundation supports projects in underserved communities where direct interventions would have a sustained and positive impact on individual lives. The Foundation also engages in targeted ‘impact initiatives’ including a partnership with Team Vitality, Europe’s number one esports team, to raise awareness that when a young person is deprived of their vision, they are also deprived of their prospects; and also supporting production of a documentary film about ‘poverty blindness’ for international film festivals.

Our History

The Tej Kohli Foundation was started in 2005 by Wendy and Tej Kohli to operate in areas blighted by extreme poverty and reach out to those who hoped for a brighter future. For many years the Foundation has supported projects at the heart of communities that have been neglected, especially when interventions help to combat a lack of education, poor health or prejudice.

Since 2013 the Tej Kohli Foundation has led and defined the global mission to end preventable corneal blindness by 2035. The Tej Kohli Cornea Institute at LV Prasad in Hyderabad is a leading institution for preventative medicine and corneal transplants. The Institute has given free transplants and cures to many thousands of the poorest people on the planet who were living with blindness or severe visual impairment.

Today the Tej Kohli Foundation is a multi-disciplinary global centre of focus for the scientific development and advancement of an affordable, scalable and accessible technological solution for preventing and eliminating avoidable corneal blindness worldwide by 2035.
